Kids all over Washington are finding that architecture is a fun way to explore the world around them.  And, teachers and parents are discovering that Washington's historic buildings and sites are valuable teaching tools.  Kids learn best when they can make tangible connections with the subject they are studying.  Our historic buildings can be seen, touched, and experienced by kids first hand, thereby helping kids learn about social, economic, political, cultural, and technological trends of the societies and times that constructed them.

Check out fun kids stuff, a few Washington places that have school programs and tours, resources for teachers, and a few general resources about architecture to get kids of all ages started having fun with historic architecture.

Archkidecture -- architecture for kids.  Wacky stories, cool projects, amazing structures.

Architectural Bingo -- architectural bingo card to play outdoors in your neighborhood or by looking at buildings on-line.

Carmine's Introduction to Architecture -- fun, hands-on activities for kids of all ages.

Kids and Community -- site for kids developed by America's city planners to help kids explore how you create communities, how you live in them, and how you change them.

Paper Building Models -- famous buildings from the U.S. and all over the world that you can build.

Architecture+Design Education Network -- a program of the American Architectural Foundation [AAF] and the Chicago Architecture Foundation [CAF] committed to promoting innovative architecture and design education for teachers and students in grades K -12.

Architecture in Education (AIE) -- program of the AIA Philadelphia Chapter and recognized internationally as a model for built environment education for K-12 students.
